Program Notes: Brown Squares (2010) is the first piece that Nathalie Joachim and Allison Loggins-Hull ever co-wrote as Flutronix. The title is symbolic of the root of their friendship, and who they are: two brown nerds doing what they love. The piece came together quickly and instinctively, much like their friendship and working relationship. It represents nothing more than their collective black joy.
